A spectacular evening of music is planned at Hereford Cathedral on Friday 10 October (7.30pm) to celebrate and commemorate 140 years of SSAFA and 80 years since the end of World War Two.

Never Forgotten has been organised by the Herefordshire branch of SSAFA and will bring together musicians from across Herefordshire and the Marches for an incredibly special concert. The evening, which will be compered by Alexandra James, will feature a range of music from wartime classics to contemporary favourites before closing with a 'last night of the Proms' style finale.

Performers on the evening will include the local Military Veterans Choir (MVC) Hereford, Hereford Cathedral School choirs including the multi award winning girls’ choir – Cantabile, the Senior Chamber Choir and Colla Voce, alongside the Marches Military Wives Choir, Bromyard Symphonic Wind Band and members of Orchestra of the Swan.

Kevin Ebsworth MBE, Concert Lead & Branch Treasurer for SSAFA Herefordshire, said: “We are really looking forward celebrating two momentous anniversaries with an evening of music this October. The concert will be a perfect occasion to get the family together as there will be something for everyone to enjoy. The finale will also be something very special – bring your best singing voices and we’ll provide the flags!

We are also very grateful to all our sponsors who have kindly helped this event come together, in particular Hereford City Council and the SAS Regimental Association for their support.”

The Soldiers', Sailors', and Airmen's Families Association, known as SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. The charity has been providing practical, emotional, and financial support to the Forces and their families since 1885.

Never Forgotten, which will raise funds for SSAFA Herefordshire, will take place on Friday 10 October at 7.30pm at Hereford Cathedral and there will be screens in place for those areas with restricted views of the performers. Tickets cost from £5 - £20, including a souvenir programme, and are available to purchase from the cathedral website: www.herefordcathedral.org/Event/ssafa-concert-2025 or by calling 01432 374 202.
