Hereford Cathedral are launching two new initiatives, led by the Revd Canon James Pacey the cathedral’s Chancellor, to help people discover and explore Christianity in a different environment.

The first of these new initiatives is Pub Theology which takes place on the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm in The Orange Tree. This is an informal opportunity to discuss issues relating to God, faith, life, theology and philosophy (and anything else that may arise) over a drink. Each session will have a loose focus but plenty of scope to go off on a tangent with questions, other people’s perspectives and a chance to chat about things that may not always be possible to in a regular church setting.

The second initiative is the new Cathedral Bible Drama Group which will meet in College Hall on the last Monday of the month at 7pm. This session will be a fun and relaxed group that will use drama games and techniques to explore Biblical stories and characters. The group will be led by the Revd Canon James Pacey who directed last year’s Hereford Passion and has 20 years’ experience in theatre making.

The Revd Canon James Pacey said: “I’m delighted to be able to share these different opportunities to explore faith and community as there isn’t always the chance to ask questions during a traditional church service. By creating these spaces where discussion and exploration are encouraged in a more relaxed setting, we will hopefully further our understanding of God, Christianity and how faith impacts our daily life.”

James would be delighted to welcome any adult, over the age of eighteen, to join either group. Advance booking is not required, but please do email [email protected] if you have any queries or would like more details.
