Due to the ongoing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, we sadly made the decision to cancel the Dean’s farewell services which were scheduled for Sunday 31 January.

Whilst we are disappointed that we aren’t able to gather together as we had hoped to thank the Dean for his leadership and ministry over the last 19 years, we will be marking the day and are inviting our congregation to join us from home. Our pre-recorded Sunday Worship webcast for 31 January will include several speeches of appreciation of the Dean’s ministry as well as the presentation of his retirement gift in the form of a cheque.

The webcast will become available on the homepage of the cathedral website at 10 am on Sunday 31 January, and we encourage as many people as possible to watch it, so that we are all united in prayer and thanksgiving on that morning. As well as including the Dean’s final sermon before retirement, the webcast will end with a collage of images from the nineteen years of his ministry among us.

We look forward to joining together digitally this weekend.

If you would like to express your gratitude for Michael’s ministry by contributing to his retirement present, please place your donation in an envelope marked Dean’s retirement. Cheques should be made payable to The Chapter of Hereford Cathedral; if you prefer to donate by electronic transfer, the details that you will need are printed in the letter which can be downloaded below.

If you wish to make an electronic donation by BACS, please click here to download the letter which includes the information you need.
