Canon Andrew's Final Service Thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday 14 September as we said a fond farewell to The Revd Canon Andrew Piper. Following a beautiful service which was attended by hundreds of people, presentations were made by various constituents of the cathedral community to thank Andrew for all that he has done during his time in Hereford. Gifts were presented by the Dean, Robert Kilgour (cathedral architect), the cathedral wardens, Rosemary Lording (on behalf of the cathedral congregation), Geraint Bowen, Elizabeth Hunter on behalf of the High Sheriffs and Tim Pryse-Davies. The presentations closed with words of thanks from Andrew. Following the presentations, the Dean announced the Revd Dr Jonathan Roberts as Andrew's successor leading to a round of applause led by Canon Andrew. The morning closed with the cathedral clergy team stepping forward to bless Andrew as he sets out on his new chapter. Read Andrew's sermon here A personal note from Canon Andrew Please accept my warmest thanks for making last Sunday such a special day for me, as I reached the end of my ministry as your precentor. It was a privilege to preside and preach on Holy Cross Day and to be surrounded by so many friends. Thank you too for showering me with such kind words of appreciation and with so many presents, which will remind me of twenty-two happy years in Hereford. A very special thank you for the beautiful sundial, which will become the focal point of my garden; for the incredibly generous cheque; and for the many other presents and cards that filled my car on the journey back to Croscombe. I shall miss you all as I settle into retirement, but please be assured that you will always remain in my prayers.
