Cantilupe Lecture Cantilupe Lecture “If all of these stories were told, they would produce a play that would never end.”Following The Hereford Nativity and The Hereford Passion, Hereford Cathedral’s Year of Storytelling reaches its culmination in The Hereford Mysteries: a new play tracing the arc of the biblical narrative from Genesis to Revelation - from creation to new creation. In this lecture and interactive discussion, the Revd Canon James Pacey, Chancellor of Hereford Cathedral and author of all three plays, will reflect on the artistic and theological processes that have shaped the trilogy. He will consider what it means to render the vast narrative of scripture into a dramatic form - how the Bible might become a two-hour play - and explore the potential of theatre as a medium for theological imagination and the proclamation of the Gospel within a story-saturated culture.Alongside his work at Hereford Cathedral, James is a former theatre director. He holds a Masters in Liturgy and has a particular interest in the points of consonance and dissonance between worship and performance. This is a free event, but booking is essential Book below or via the ticket desk.
