The Eastern Cloisters Project is a Heritage Lottery Funded project based in the Cloisters of Hereford Cathedral, aiming to renovate the Cloisters, stop them falling down, and open them up to the public for special events and activities.

The Cloisters were home to the Vicars Choral for centuries; the Vicars Choral were made up of 27 men who sang services in the Cathedral, and lived and studied in the Cloisters. The heritage of the Cloisters can therefore be summarised in to three themes – music, community, and learning. All the events and activities planned as part of the project relate to these themes.

The Violet Plaques Project, which has seen eleven temporary plaques installed across the city to commemorate the suffrage movement, arose during the research phase of this project. To find out more click here.
