Magna Carta Trail Hereford Cathedral owns an original copy of Magna Carta. It was written in 1217 in the reign of King Henry III. It limited the rule of the King, and gave more power to other people and to the Church. Much of it was returning to old laws and customs from the Bible – some from the ancient Israelites, and some from the teaching of Jesus. In 2017, the Hereford Textile Group made a medieval bunting based on people, places and goods from Magna Carta, using images from medieval manuscripts. Round the cathedral you can find some of these pictures. Pick up your sheet from the Welcome Desk as you arrive and find the pictures located around the cathedral. Once you have filled in your answer take the sheet to the Cathedral Shop and they will give you a sticker. The trail is available during normal cathedral opening hours when services aren't taking place. Manage Cookie Preferences
