Drawn to Imperfection

Drawn to Imperfection is a touring art exhibition that brings the Bible to life through a collection of 21 large-scale contemporary portraits.

Created by artist Dave Nevard and writer David Painting, the exhibition gives visitors the opportunity to come face to face with the humanity of the people whose stories fill the pages of the Bible.

Through their stories, struggles, hopes and faith, visitors are invited to explore new paths into ancient wisdom.

Whether you’ve been reading the Bible for years or are simply curious to explore, Drawn to Imperfection offers a thought-provoking and accessible experience for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Bios:

Dave Nevard - Artist 

Short:

Dave Nevard creates portraiture rich in empathy that explores the complexity of our humanity.  Blending influences from street art and traditional realism, Dave's wider work is often deeply informed by the lives of those found in the margins of society. This has led to collaborative work with charities and NGO’s around the world.  Dave currently tours the Drawn to Imperfection exhibition around the UK and is based in York. 

Long:

Dave is an artist with a passion for portraiture. After graduating with a degree in Fine Art, Dave spent 15 years working as an artist, leader and teacher with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) particularly focused on exploring portraiture amongst those who are marginalised; collaborating in amplifying the voices of those who struggle to be heard.

Now working as a freelance artist/illustrator Dave loves taking on opportunities to bring value to engaging storytelling. Blending influences from street art with traditional realism, Dave seeks to create emotive work strong in empathy with paint and charcoal alongside digital work. Dave’s studio is in York, UK where he lives with his wife Nicole and their two girls.

David Painting - Author

Short:

A pastor at heart, David’s passion is to see people encounter God more profoundly. A science graduate, David has held senior roles in industry and commerce alongside a pastoral ministry in churches in the UK.  He currently divides his time between AI development, co-leading a house church and writing.

Long:

A pastor at heart, David has had a number of pastoral roles ranging from those in small rural settings to large urban churches in the UK.

He is currently pioneering and co-leading a House Church. Having led the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Relief and Development Discipleship Training school (DTS), he continues to serve YWAM, teaching on DTS's and is the author of a number of books to support Christian teaching and preaching.

Prior to this, he was a YWAM missionary serving Romania shortly after the revolution and working in rural settings across the country. David and his wife Janet have ministered in the Balkans, Northern Europe, North and South America, South East Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
