Flowers at Hereford Cathedral Gardens

Jess Stallwood, Events Manager, explains: “Hereford Cathedral's team is hosting garden events all year round so that you can catch the gardens in full bloom at different times. Since most of the Cathedral gardens are usually off-limits, this is a golden opportunity for both locals and visitors to check them out. These days are always a hit on our calendar."

Open Gardens

For those preferring a more informal approach, the Cathedral’s Open Garden days will happen on Saturday 20 July and Saturday 24 August, when visitors can explore the gardens at their own pace any time between 10 am and 3.30 pm. This year the Cathedral Café will also be serving afternoon tea in College Hall during the Open Gardens events, advanced booking for this experience is essential.

Jess Stallwood, Events Manager, added: “Our afternoon tea includes a selection of finger sandwiches, a variety of mini cakes including Victoria sponge, eclairs, macarons, and strawberry meringues, mini scones with jam, clotted cream & strawberries and tea or coffee. We want you to have an incredible experience during your visit to our gardens.”

Visitors can explore the gardens with the help of a guide leaflet, and some of the justifiably proud volunteer gardeners are available to talk about their work maintaining the historic gardens. Tickets cost £6 for the Open Gardens Entry and £16 to include an incredible Afternoon Tea. General entry tickets may be purchased in advance via the website or on the day from staff based at the entrance to the Cloisters. Afternoon Tea tickets are available to purchase in advance via the website only:  www.herefordcathedral.org/events
