As part of h.Art Week Hereford Cathedral will be hosting Art & Soul, a vibrant exhibition by local artist Susan Edwards.

Located in the North Transept of the cathedral throughout September, Art & Soul celebrates the rich regional heritage we all enjoy in our rural area. The landscapes, many of which have been created on location explore the abundance of nature, the work of many hands in gardens, the creativity of craftsmen and a sense of fun and fellowship of friends and the faith.

Susan is based in Herefordshire and has always earned her living ‘by her brush’ through an extensive career as an art teacher, lecturer in art appreciation and an Artist in Residence on cruise liners. Alongside her landscape work, Susan is an accomplished portrait artist who has completed an extensive collection of commissions throughout her career.

The Very Revd Sarah Brown, Dean of Hereford, said: “We are delighted to welcome Susan. This is a summery ‘feel good’ collection of paintings illustrating the beauty of the world around us which offers a cheerful antidote to much of what we read and hear on the news.”

Susan Edwards, said, “When I was 6, I wrote a prayer; ‘Dear God, thank you for the buty of the world’. I’m still thanking The Lord for the beauty of the world, only now I can spell it! Painting landscapes is a pure joy because really what I’m saying is look what a wonderful world we live in, especially in rural Herefordshire. How blessed we are! I hope that my paintings give you as much pleasure as they gave me when I painted them.”

Art & Soul is on display in the North Transept of Hereford Cathedral from Friday 1 – Wednesday 27 September during normal cathedral opening hours. This exhibition has been supported by the Friends of Herefordshire Museum and Arts and is part of h.Art week. For more information about Susan, please visit:
