From time-to-time Hereford Cathedral wishes to recruit casual workers in our catering and cleaning departments. We would love to hear from you if you think you have the experience and skills to join our staff team.

A message from Sam, our Café Supervisor: "Our Cathedral Café offers a welcoming and inclusive place to enjoy the wonderful array of delicious food and beverages. Most of our offerings are home-made in our on-site kitchen and we continue to strive to fulfil our mission of offering hospitality at the region’s largest tourist destination.

We are occasionally looking to recruit catering assistants to join our experienced Cathedral Café team. The applicants will be expected to be good communicators, self-motivated and able to demonstrate a high standard of customer service when serving in our Café and catering operations.

The work involves taking food and beverage orders from customers and preparing them promptly, taking payment, preparing and restocking food in the café or its kitchen, cleaning and setting up dining areas, operating dishwashers, and delivering food and drinks to other venues within the Cathedral as required."

A message from Alan, our Head of Estates: "Hereford Cathedral has been the city and religious centre for over 1300 years. As solid as the buildings look, they require continual maintenance and repair to keep them at their best now and in perpetuity. The Estates Department is tasked with the upkeep of the buildings and ensuring that the public areas and our offices are kept presentable. We welcome many thousands of visitors to the Cathedral and first impressions count.

Currently we are looking to appoint diligent cleaners to help with this work. The work includes included cleaning, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping. In addition, we undertake routine inspections to identify areas for future maintenance activities. The work will include periodic deep cleaning and preserving of sensitive areas of our historic buildings. To be part of the ongoing life of Hereford Cathedral is not only a pleasure but a privilege, seeing this structure kept in the best condition for our future generations."

As casual worker roles, the hours for both of these roles may be worked flexibly between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Saturday, and may also include occasional out of hours work for evening and weekend events.
