Volunteer with us!

We are very fortunate at Hereford Cathedral to have a wonderful team of Volunteers who support our work and help us to deliver our mission and ministry.

We are hoping to recruit new volunteers to work alongside us in this beautiful and sacred space as visitors start to return to the cathedral. As one of the leading tourist attractions in the county of Herefordshire, we have a huge variety of roles to help develop your skills and meet new people. Volunteering at Hereford Cathedral will give you a fascinating glimpse into life as part of a cathedral community.

As well as increasing our Volunteer numbers in our existing teams, we also need to recruit for brand new positions as a result of the completion of the Eastern Cloisters Project (supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund); including the positions of Poetry Trail Volunteer, Photography Pilgrimage Volunteer and Escape Room Volunteer.

Download our volunteering leaflet which outlines the different roles available by clicking here.

Owen Towndrow, Visitor Engagement Officer, said: “Volunteering at Hereford Cathedral brings forth a variety of opportunities and activities for people of different backgrounds. You might be surprised to find out just how much your experience, enthusiasm and talent could augment and enhance our dedicated teams of Volunteers. If you would like to immerse yourself in one of the county’s leading tourist sites – open to worshippers, tourists, music lovers and many others alike - do come and introduce yourself.”

We are committed to being an accessible organisation and welcome applications for volunteering from everyone who is interested in getting involved. If you are concerned that your personal circumstances may prevent you from volunteering at Hereford Cathedral, we would strongly encourage you to call a member of our team who will happily discuss different options with you.

Safeguarding within our community is very important here at Hereford Cathedral and depending on the role you are applying for, you may have to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service check and give references. Our team will help you through this process.
