Visitor Engagement Officer

Hereford Cathedral is seeking a full-time Visitor Engagement Officer to ensure a warm welcome for the many visitors, customers and pilgrims who come to see it and the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library, in order to raise the Cathedral’s profile as both a place of worship and pilgrimage, and as a tourist destination. The Visitor Engagement Officer is responsible for the promotion and management of tours, the welcome to the Cathedral, and for the 400 volunteers who support its operations.  

Salary: £20,000 per annum

Holiday entitlement: 4 weeks plus public holidays

Hours: 35 per week, 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and evening working, for which time off in lieu will be allowed.

Pension: The post is eligible for our workplace pension. This is a non-contributory scheme for the employee; the employer contributes 8% of salary. Additional employee contributions are possible.

The post is permanent and is subject to a six-month probation period. The appointment of the successful candidate is subject to the receipt of two satisfactory references and, in accordance with the cathedral’s safeguarding policy, a DBS clearance.
