A concert at How Caple Church - Friday 24 May, 6.30pm

Hereford Cathedral's music scholars are to give a summer evening's concert at How Caple church, near Ross. The four young stars said they wanted to give something back after spending the last year studying at the cathedral under its musical director Geraint Bowen and sub-organist Peter Dyke.

Organ scholar Jacob Costard and choral scholars Sarah Reid (alto), Liam Ormiston (tenor) and Miles McHugh (bass), all 19, will perform a mixture of classical and lighter pieces including Handel, Gerald Finzi and Sir Arthur Sullivan. The Friday May 24 concert will start at 6.30pm.

Lois Letts, organist at How Caple church, said: 'Jacob, Sarah, Liam and Miles are some of the best young classical performers in the country. Come and hear the future! We are grateful to Hereford Cathedral for letting them play.'

Miles McHugh said: 'Hereford has been a great opportunity for us and this concert will be a small way of saying thank-you to the county and diocese. We hope the show will be summery and fun.'

The show, St Ethelbert's Entertains takes its name from St Ethelbert's house in Hereford, where the cathedral accommodates its scholars. St Ethelbert, a king of East Anglia, is buried at Hereford Cathedral.

Tickets will be £20 on the door, to include a pre-show drink. Please contact Lois Letts on [email protected] for more details.
