A warm welcome awaits all who choose to worship and visit Hereford Cathedral during Holy Week and Easter.

One of the highlights of Holy Week is Hereford Cathedral Choir’s performance of St Matthew Passion which will take place on Tuesday 16 April at 7 pm. Together with an international line-up of soloists and period-instrument orchestra Marches Baroque, they will perform Bach’s sublime masterpiece in the cathedral nave. Throughout Holy Week there are many services, which everyone is welcome to attend, taking place at the cathedral. These include Eucharist of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday (Thursday 18 April, 7.30 pm), Preaching of the Passion and Liturgy of the Passion on Good Friday (Friday 19 April, 12 noon and 1.30 pm respectively) and the Paschal Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter on Holy Saturday (Saturday 20 April, 8 pm). On Easter Sunday, everyone is invited to join us for the Cathedral Eucharist at 10 am which will be led by the Bishop of Hereford.

For families this Easter there will be an opportunity for all age worship at 10 am on Good Friday (Friday 19 April) as everyone is invited to join us for a family friendly service. Towards the end of the school holidays on Saturday 27 April, 10 am – 12.30 pm, children can take part in an Easter themed Crypt Club. Featuring a story for Easter, a trail around the cathedral grounds and decoration making the workshop is for children aged five – fourteen. On Easter Monday (Monday 22 April), Peter Dyke will give his very popular Lunchtime Organ Recital at 1.15 pm. This lunchtime concert is free to attend with a retiring collection.
