We are very pleased to be able to share our programme of services and events for Advent & Christmas 2021.

You can view our full programme here by downloading our Advent & Christmas Leaflet (pdf)

Application forms for tickets can be collected from the cathedral or downloaded by clicking here (pdf).

Please note that only tickets for the Epiphany Carol Service are remaining. Tickets for Christmas Eve Choral Evensong and Christmas Day Cathedral Eucharist have all been fully allocated.

The season will begin with our Advent Carol Service (Sunday 28 November) before seeing the return of some of Hereford Cathedral’s festive favourites including Peter Dyke’s Christmas Sparkle Organ Concert (Saturday 4 December) and the incredibly popular Christmas Fair (Saturday 18 December). On Christmas Eve we will be holding our Christingle Nativity Service and Choral Evensong with Blessing of the Crib before four services on Christmas Day.

Alongside our services and events, 2021 will see the return of our Christmas Tours throughout December. Led by experienced guides these tours are the perfect way to discover Christmas through the ages at the cathedral, followed by a hot drink and mince pie! We will also be welcoming Ex Cathedra (Thursday 9), Hereford Choral Society (Saturday 11), ABF (Tuesday 14) and St Michael’s Hospice (Sunday 19) to host their concerts and events within the cathedral this December.

In order to uphold the health of everyone who attends sung services during Advent and Christmas, we are maintaining socially-distanced seating configurations, even though this arrangement restricts the cathedral’s seating capacity to 200 people, which we are managing by issuing a limited number of free tickets for the more popular services.

Tickets will be required for Advent Carol Service, Christmas Eve Choral Evensong (fully booked), Christmas Day Cathedral Eucharist (fully booked) and the Epiphany Carol Service. Application forms for tickets can be collected from the cathedral or downloaded from the website above.

Tickets for other events such as Christmas Tours, Christmas Sparkle and Christingle Service will be available to book online via the cathedral website from 1 November also.

As last year, the Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols will not take place as a live service, but a new audio recording will be made available on our website on Thursday 23 December. We all hope that the pandemic will have receded in a year’s time and we shall be able to reinstate our traditional pattern of well-attended seasonal services. In the meantime, we continue to expand the number of our livestreams and online services for the housebound and those who are still shielding, so that everyone can join us for worship whether at home or in the cathedral.

We will be sharing our full online programme for our live streamed and video recordings of services in the coming weeks.
