At Hereford Cathedral we have an incredible team of volunteers who support us in so many ways. This Volunteer Week, whilst we are not able to come together we wanted to let our volunteering community know just how much we appreciate and miss them.

To all our volunteers,

We are immensely grateful and proud of all our volunteers who support Hereford Cathedral, turning out for their duties whatever the weather or time of year, and working so hard to make the cathedral a friendly, welcoming and beautiful place to visit.

Whether welcoming visitors, leading tours of the church, tower and gardens; ringing the bells, serving at the altar, reading the lessons or working as day Chaplains; serving the coffee, helping with catering or serving breakfasts on a Saturday; maintaining the gardens or arranging flowers, repairing fabrics or explaining the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library exhibitions; looking after Library visitors , conducting research or welcoming and working with local schools, the cathedral simply could not function without YOU and all that you do on a daily basis.

In these difficult times while the cathedral is closed and many are unable to leave their homes, it is immensely frustrating for us all not to be able to carry out our various volunteer roles, but we all look forward to better times ahead.

In the meantime, it remains only for us to thank you, our dedicated volunteers and wish God’s blessing on you all.

With best wishes,

The Dean, Chris Milton & David Owen

on behalf of all at Hereford Cathedral
