Meet the Minor Prophets: A Lecture Series

Each of the Twelve Minor Prophets leave a short book of prophesy which throws light on the attitude of the Jews to Social Injustice; Invasion; what it means to be Jewish. Jonah is really a Missionary Manifesto and stands alone. 

Dr Maureen Palmer will lead four lectures in the Reading Room. This lecture series will take place on the following dates at 10.30am - 12.00pm:

Monday 21 November
Monday 28 November
Monday 5 December
Monday 12 December 

 

Each lecture will explore a different subject: 

  1. The Revolutionaries: Amos, Hosea and Micah.
  2. The Rise of Pharisaic Judaism: Zephaniah, Nahum, Habbakuk, Haggai and Zachariah.
  3. Response to invasion, exile and return: Malachi, Joel and Obadiah.
  4. A Missionary Manifesto: Jonah.

Please bring along with you Bible (NRSV preferred but NJB/REB are also suitable).
