Hereford’s renowned cathedral choir offers a wonderful opportunity for children to receive a unique musical education in a spectacular setting. All the choristers are educated at Hereford Cathedral School, where they receive substantial scholarships provided by the cathedral, which may be increased to 100% in case of financial need.

Boys and girls aged 6–9, from any school, are welcome to attend the open morning from 10 to 11.15 am (registration from 9.30 am).

What happens at the open morning?

The open morning includes a short open rehearsal of the current choristers and brief presentations from key cathedral and school staff. The visiting children then take part in a workshop with some of the choristers, during which they’ll learn a song which they will sing in the cathedral at the end of the morning. There are no formal auditions at the open morning, but if you wish to take that process further you can arrange this with Geraint Bowen at the end.

Places at the open morning are free of charge but advance booking is essential. To register for a place, please click here.
