Just as Advent starts the Church's year, so the anticipation of Christ's return sets the context and framework for all our living as Christians. Over the retreat week, Bishop Donald will open this up from five different parts of scripture. A daily Eucharist, lunch together, and both silent and shared prayer, will shape each day.

Starting at 10.30am with an informal Eucharist, the day will consist of prayer and discussion. There will be a break for lunch, which will be provided by the cathedral, at 1pm with the day coming to a close at 3.30pm.

Bishop Donald was first ordained in 1976, and was Bishop of Peterborough from 2010 until his retirement earlier this year. He loves preaching and teaching the Bible, not least because it comes afresh to him each time he does so. He gladly describes himself as "captive to the word of God."

The sessions will take place in Old Chapel and attendees can choose to either attend the full week or individual days by booking below. Advance booking is essential due to limited capacity. Please book below, and a confirmation email will be sent which will act as your ticket.

We are very grateful to Bishop Donald for generously giving his time, enabling us to make this event free to attend. We kindly ask, if not prohibitive, for a donation of £6 per day to cover the cost of lunch and refreshments. Please inform us of any dietary requirements or allergens.
