The Cathedral Chapter wishes to appoint a

Head of Schools and Family Learning

Salary £15,500 p/a (£25,826 FTE)

3 days (21 hours) a week

Hereford Cathedral is a building of great antiquity and has been a place of Christian worship and pilgrimage for well over 1300 years. Today it has a large and regular congregation, an internationally renowned musical tradition and a commitment to Christian learning and heritage education. As the home of the Mappa Mundi, a 1217 copy of the Magna Carta and the largest surviving chained library in the world, the cathedral attracts over 200,000 visitors and pilgrims each year.

We seek a Head of Schools and Family Learning to develop and promote learning activities suitable for organised groups of school and college students; to create informal learning activities for families; to lead Crypt Club; when necessary to manage fixed term contract staff involved in externally funded learning projects.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A teaching qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years’ classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of subject disciplines of History and RE, especially Christianity
  • Knowledge of the current National Curriculum
  • Awareness of the importance of safeguarding
  • The ability to inspire others
