The Dean has prepared a visual journey through Holy Week: an image for each day from within the cathedral, together with a reflection and prayer. We will the daily reflections onto our website each morning.

Tuesday in Holy Week

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!

Luke 13:34

As he approaches his Passion, Jesus looks over the city of Jerusalem, and mourns.

Today, in spirit we go to Aylestone Hill and Churchill Gardens and look down on our beloved city.  Like many large populations it has suffered these last weeks – not on the scale of London or Birmingham but we know that it is in urban communities that the coronavirus has particularly taken root.

So pray today for our city – for our Council, emergency services, for Hereford FoodBank. For our key workers who work in front-line services – in our supermarkets, in our schools, in maintaining essential services for the community. For all of those working for the NHS, in social care and in our pharmacies

God, we ask for a flourishing community, where neighbours learn to love each other.  We pray that we can be good stewards of Your love to each one of our neighbours, that in them we may see your glory  and give your love.

Amen.
