The Eastern Cloisters Project, at Hereford Cathedral, is seeking an external partner to provide historical interpretation for the Old Chapel. We are seeking a partner to create a historical reimagining of the Old Chapel and Cloisters, and represent what life was like for the Vicars Choral who lived in the Cloisters. We are seeking a multimedia approach; it should make use of existing equipment, but we are also open to exploring new technology.

The work in Old Chapel is part of a wider project in the Cloisters; the Eastern Cloisters Project is a National Lottery Heritage Fund project which aims to repair the Cloisters, renovate the Old Chapel, and host a range of related events and activities. To ensure that all activities planned stay true to the ‘spirit of place’, the heritage of the Cloisters has been condensed into three themes – Music, Community, and Learning – and all activities fit within one of these three main themes.

Full information can be found in the Old Chapel Interpretation Brief which you can download here.

Applicants are invited to visit Hereford Cathedral to see the Cloisters and Old Chapel. The Activity Officer, Sarah Hollingdale, will give applicants a tour of the site, and a representative from the Archive will also be present to answer questions about the history of the site on Tuesday 4th June and Thursday 20th June. Applicants must email the Activity Officer to book a time slot on one of these dates.
