The Friends of Hereford Cathedral are delighted to announce the success of their Friends’ Weekend, held in early June, which marked the appointment of four new trustees and six officers for the 2024-2025 term.

The weekend celebration started with a musical soirée at the home of the former Chairman Doug Barrat on the Friday evening. The next day, guests were treated to a performance by the Lay Clerks of Hereford Cathedral Choir before a delightful buffet lunch in College Hall.

The AGM took place later that afternoon and was chaired by Mrs Katherine Garnier DL on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire and President of the Society, Mrs Anna Turner. The weekend concluded with Choral Evensong, in which the Revd Canon James Pacey gave an outstanding sermon, and tea in College Hall.

Joy Roderick, the new Chairman of Friends of Hereford, said:
“‘As I take over the helm, with some diffidence, my watchword will be recruitment. We need to widen our net if we are to survive. Please take a leaflet and encourage a friend, a neighbour or a family member to join.  If we all do that, our membership will double and our income will double overnight. Please help me to secure the future of the Friends into the next generation.”
