Understanding Bookbindings With Arthur Green, Independent Book Conservator An immersive two-day seminar for librarians, archivists, volunteers, and anyone working with collections of historic bindings who would like to understand more about the books that they handle. Leaving aside fancy decoration and the printed word, the course will focus on the structural features of bookbindings, their development over time, and the reasons they degrade. Participants will experience a variety of historic bindings first-hand, including guided access to the collection at Hereford Cathedral. The course will also include sessions on materials and formats, safe handling, and a tour of Hereford Cathedral and the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library Exhibition. This seminar costs £350 per person including teas and coffees. To book, please email: [email protected] or call 01432 374 225 Manage Cookie Preferences
