People sometimes refer to the cathedral’s medieval statutes as a source of information about this or that, but few people have perhaps read them.  They are a fascinating insight into the life and working of the cathedral in the 13th century and reveal much information about the ups and downs of everyday life here once we read between the lines. The statutes are far from a dry as dust subject and can bring the past alive in all sorts of ways, good and bad. Canon Chris will use them to paint a picture of cathedral life at the time of Bishop Aigueblanche.
