The latest exhibition in the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library celebrates 17th century poet Thomas Traherne who is known for his extraordinary writing about nature connecting humanity to the divine.

Seeds of Eternity looks at Traherne from today’s environmentally conscious world, highlighting some of the theologians who influenced his attitude toward creation. It also looks at Traherne’s legacy, from the mystics who cite him to a vibrant original piece by book artist Paul Johnson and original sketches from Thomas Denny’s Traherne windows.

This exhibition is on display in the Mappa Mundi & Chained Library Exhibition from Monday 23 September 2024 – Saturday 5 April 2025, 10am – 5pm (last admission 4.30pm). Normal admission charges apply.

Please note that the exhibition will be closed throughout January for essential cleaning and conservation work.
