A talk by Revd Canon Chris Pullin

Looking back among many other things including Jewish exile in Babylon, the design of St Matthew’s Gospel and the needs of Reformation Christians, Canon Chris Pullin will show that apparently prosaic lectionaries are more complicated than we might think. Issues to do with power and control, interpretation and editing, whether the Church creates scripture or scripture creates the Church - and a host of other considerations - come together when we try to draw up a scheme of readings.

Why do we read what we do each Sunday? Come and hear more about the dilemmas that those who create lectionaries face.
