Herefordshire Historic Churches Trust present the Adam Darnley Memorial Lecture, which will raise some money for the two great churches Adam loved so much, Hereford Cathedral and St Margaret’s. The lecture will be given in St Margarets Church.

The Rt Hon Sir Andrew McFarlane, a Herefordshire resident, has generously agreed to talk to us about the role of the Diocesan Chancellor as he is Chancellor of the Diocese of Exeter. A diocesan chancellor is the Bishop’s Judge who deals with all the permissions required for parish churches to do anything to their fabric (under the Faculty Jurisdiction) including in the church yard. He gives permission for anything to happen from exhumations to a complete re-ordering – particularly relevant to historic churches and our Trust.

Sir Andrew was a Lord Justice of Appeal in England and Wales from 2011 until July this year, when he was made President of the Family Division.

Tickets cost £15 and are available to purchase from HHCT via email at [email protected] or by filling in the application form which can be downloaded here
