RSCM DIOCESAN CHORAL FESTIVAL
Each year on a Saturday in late September or early October the cathedral hosts the RSCM diocesan choral festival.
This is a gathering of choirs throughout the diocese
who meet in the afternoon to rehearse specially selected music, with the
service taking place at 5.30 pm. There are also two preliminary rehearsals
in the couple of weeks before the event, one in Church Stretton and one
in Hereford. The festival is a great occasion which gives several hundred
singers from choirs of widely differing sizes and types the opportunity
to perform music in the cathedral's glorious acoustic which they would
rarely otherwise get a chance to sing. |
