Organ Scholarship
The organ scholarship at Hereford Cathedral runs annually from 1 September to 31 August. It was set up in 2008 to provide an organ student with the experience of working in a cathedral music department and to develop and extend his or her skills in service playing, choir accompaniment and all the other relevant subjects. The cathedral’s first organ scholar was Simon Bland, who is currently organ scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge. The 2009–10 organ scholar was Jeremy Cole, who took up the organ scholarship at Trinity College, Cambridge, in autumn 2010. Tim Parsons was the 2010–11 organ scholar, who took up the organ scholarship at Selwyn College, Cambridge, in autumn 2011.
The 2011–12 organ scholar is Douglas Tang, who takes up the organ scholarship at King’s College, Cambridge, in autumn 2012.
