Packed with information and ideas,

our 'Do-it-yourself' package offers an affordable option for

an imaginative and engaging

Key Stage 2 RE visit to

Hereford Cathedral.

Educational visits for schools and colleges are an important part of the work of the cathedral. Students of all ages are able to experience learning within the very special setting of a cathedral building where prayer is still offered today, as it has been over the centuries, and where the architectural framework of our religious and cultural heritage is ever present. Now, as well as our standard and tailor-made visits, we offer at a price of £20 per class, a Key Stage 2 'Do-it-yourself' package.

Primary Schools

Amongst other opportunities, primary school children are able to enjoy workshops and educational trails, meet with famous costumed characters from the cathedral's past, including Henry VIII, and dress in period costume themselves. We also invite classes to explore the Hereford Mappa Mundi, to visit the Chained library, and to have a go at calligraphy or designing and illuminating letters in the style of some of our medieval manuscripts. Additionally, we can tailor visits to meet your own particular objectives.

High Schools

Our standard visits for high schools complement the RE and History curricula, but the cathedral also offers opportunities for work in many other subjects including Maths, Science, English and Art. We are always happy to help teachers plan visits in these and other subject areas.

Sixth Forms, Colleges and Universities

Our library and archive facilities are available for A level, graduate and post graduate study. Additionally, we offer a skills based visit for students studying A level Medieval History, which focusses on the Hereford Mappa Mundi.
