The Lady Arbour Apple Sculpture by Antony Poels

The sculpture can be found in the Lady Arbour garden

The work is constructed of nickel plated mild steel the sculpture and takes the viewer through a journey of line and shadow, movement and balance. Depending on the strength quality and angle of light the viewer’s experience is ever changing. The apple sculpture was put in place in time for the Apple Fair on October 15th which was to celebrate the cathedrals own Apple tree mosaic at the west front.

Antony has lived in Malvern since 1978 and his company have made fine quality reproductions of classical works. Many can be seen in television and film productions, most notable of which are the Caesars busts in the film ‘Gladiator’.  Also amongst his commissions is the memorial to Diana, Princess of Wales, at Burghley House and more recently he has been commissioned to  design a 21 metre high Pear Tree 30cm higher than the Angel of the North! This is to be sited beside the M5 motorway in Worcestershire.

Antony’s sculpture will be with us until the end of the year.
