Flog It! filmed at Hereford Cathedral!
The popular BBC2 antiques programme Flog It! presented by Paul Martin came to Hereford Cathedral on Saturday 26th November. Crowds of local people were welcomed and over 850 visitors took advantage of the free Flog It! evaluations.
The director and crew were extremely pleased with the content that has been filmed and are planning to make certainly 4 or possibly 5 shows from the material, all of which open with the general theme of ‘Here we are at Hereford Cathedral, in the recently restored Cathedral Close’.
The auction will take place on Thursday 12th January 2012 at Phillip Serrell Auctioneers & Valuers and the complete programmes will take around 6 months to turn around and we will begin to see them on Saturday evenings on BBC channels in the early summer.
Everyone we spoke to said they have had an excellent time and very pleased to see the cathedral and close looking so beautiful. Even though the cathedral was packed throughout the day everything was reset and Evensong took place as normal!
The day was only made possible with tremendous effort from all our ‘Front of House’ staff, particularly volunteers, library, cafe, exhibition and shop staff. Also the whole Vestry team kept everything on the rails throughout the day.
Hereford Cathedral’s adult learning arm ‘Life & Learning’ also hosted a study day at the cathedral on the Epistle to the Hebrews. ‘Hebrews in Hereford was led by The Venerable Doctor Joy Tetley, the day combined some of the latest insights into the work with aspects of the worship it describes. This took place in the Cathedral Library followed by an act of worship in the Bishop’s Chapel in the Palace.
