Celebrations and events in our newly restored Cathedral Close
The Heritage Lottery supported restoration work of Hereford Cathedral Close is now complete.
The work has taken 2 years to complete and the results are stunning. Click on the links below to see photographs from the opening weekend of celebrations and other examples of how we are using this exciting new green space at the heart of our city and diocese.
The Very Revd Michael Tavinor, Dean of the cathedral said:
“The renovation of the Close has been a huge and necessary project. We could never have managed this alone, and we’re delighted to have had support from HLF, English Heritage, the City and County Councils, many generous individual funders and donors, and a range of skilled contractors. It has been a great piece of co-operative work of which we can all be very proud. Hereford Cathedral Close is an inviting place of welcome for the whole community, a sacred space and a place of enjoyment and sanctuary. I am delighted to thanks and congratulate all those involved.”
