Congregational Consultations on the appointment of a new bishop – a note from the Dean
As part of the consultation process for the appointment of a successor to Bishop Anthony, various constituencies are being invited to express their views. Each deanery in the diocese will be producing a submission and members of the cathedral congregation are invited to be part of this process.
The Dean will be conducting meetings for the congregation on Sundays 18 and 25 August at 12 noon in the Chapter Room, and all are invited to come to one of these.
Those attending may like to consider the questions being put to all the Deanery Synods:
1.What, in your opinion, have been the chief successes in the diocese during the last 10 years?
2.What are the main challenges/concerns that face us as a diocese?
3.What aspects of our ministry need maintaining/strengthening?
4.What are the main priorities for the Church in the diocese of Hereford in the next 10 years?
5.What are the qualities that you would like to see in a new bishop?
To assist you in the last question, there is an attachment, issued by the national church in respect of an ‘overall job description’ for the post of bishop. Members may wish to use this as a basis in order to make specific recommendations about the see of Hereford.
